Entrepreneur or Investor

The hype these days is to have multiple streams of income, and these has seen a rush like never before into the business scene. Funny enough, a lot of people going into business these days still hold salaried jobs. Which brings us to the topic of today.

Are you an Entrepreneur or an Investor?
The general belief is that a business owner is an entrepreneur. This isn't so! There are very distinct differences between the entrepreneur and the investor.

The investor typically goes into a business mainly to make profit. He takes his time to do a visibility study as regards whatever business he has in mind. If he finds out there are too many uncertainties, he will most likely drop that idea and pick another one. All he's interested in, is the profit to be made. Is it worth his time? Will he recover his capital and make profit? Is the business sustainable?

The entrepreneur on the hand is probably just realizing he can make money from his passions!  He is willing to put in the work to get to where he wants to be, and sometimes willing to do it freely at the beginning, in other to build a lasting clientele that will eventually pay for his services. He is not going to pick and drop businesses even though he could have more than one business which are usually closely related, more often than not.

The key to success therefore is recognizing which you are. The investor or the entrepreneur. Not everyone is cut out to be an entrepreneur, and that's  OK. Realizing which you are can help you create realistic goals and expectations for yourself where your business is concerned.

Ask yourself these questions:

1. How long am I willing to wait, before I begin to make
     money from this?
2. Why do I want to do this particular business
3. Am I willing to quit my job to concentrate on my business
even if it cant pay me what I presently earn?
4. What matters to me the most in life?! Financial security or
freedom to be who I want to be?
5. Would I rather be a spectator than a participator?

Truthful answers to this question, will help you discover who you are and in turn guide you in the type of business to involve yourself in.
